Dinners Ready is a Canberra-based meal delivery company specializing in hand-made, restaurant-quality meals for people who appreciate good food but don’t have time to cook. Serving Canberra and Southern NSW, their existing website was built on Weebly/Square, a platform reaching end-of-life. They needed a modern e-commerce solution that could reflect the premium, artisanal nature of their product while providing customers with an intuitive ordering experience.
The Challenge
With their Weebly platform being discontinued, Dinners Ready needed to migrate quickly without disrupting their established customer base. More importantly, they needed a website that could communicate what sets them apart: meals hand-cooked by specialist chefs (Italian, Indian, Malaysian, Australian), premium ingredients, authentic recipes, and no preservatives or chemicals—all qualities that justify a higher price point than mass-market frozen meals.
The Solution
I rebuilt the site on Shopify, creating a warm, appetising design that showcases the quality and care behind each meal. The new site features:
- Beautiful food photography that highlights the restaurant-quality presentation
- Clear messaging around their key differentiators (small local business, hand-cooked by real chefs, premium ingredients)
- Featured meals section with easy-to-scan pricing and meal details
- Prominent dietary filter options (gluten-free, dairy-free, high protein, vegetarian)
- Local delivery zones clearly displayed
- Streamlined checkout process optimized for conversions
The design balances the homemade, local feel of the brand with the professional functionality customers expect from an e-commerce experience, positioning Dinners Ready as a premium alternative to both supermarket meals and takeaway.
The Results
The migration to Shopify resulted in increased sales and a significantly more intuitive shopping experience. Customers can now easily browse by dietary requirements, understand what makes Dinners Ready different, and complete purchases with less friction, giving them back their time to enjoy what really matters.
