Backcountry Expeditions is an adventure motorcycle tour company offering tours across the USA. When they approached me in 2022, they needed a website that could showcase their expedition destinations and upcoming tours while capturing the excitement and beauty of adventure motorcycle riding through stunning photography from previous trips.
The Brief
The company needed a dynamic website that would inspire potential riders to book tours. With expeditions across multiple US states (New Mexico, Nevada, Mid-Atlantic, Idaho, Colorado), the site needed to clearly present each destination, provide detailed itinerary information, showcase their training offerings, and build credibility through reviews and testimonials.
The Solution
I created an adventurous, visually striking website that immediately transports visitors to the backcountry. Key features included:
- Stunning hero imagery of riders in dramatic mountain landscapes
- Interactive homepage map where users could hover over US states to explore tour locations
- Individual expedition pages with detailed itineraries and information
- Training section for riders wanting to build skills
- Reviews showcasing customer experiences
- “Why Us” section highlighting their expertise and safety standards
- Clean navigation making it easy to explore destinations
The design balanced adventure and professionalism, appealing to experienced riders while reassuring those new to expedition touring.

The Pivot
A year after launch, the business evolved into ADV Moto Club, transitioning from open tours to a vetted membership club model. Their new mission: “Give ADV riders the chance to explore America’s most iconic backcountry routes with unmatched professionalism, safety, and camaraderie.” We updated the site to reflect this new membership-focused approach while maintaining the strong visual foundation and expedition showcase.
The Results
Backcountry Expeditions launched with a professional, inspiring website that effectively showcased their tours and built credibility in the adventure motorcycle community. The flexible architecture allowed for a smooth transition when the business model evolved to ADV Moto Club.
